A big rig caught fire in the truck lanes of the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar, prompting a closure of the northbound truck route until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The fire was reported at the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway about 11:05 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol. Details of what sparked the fire were not immediately released.
All truck route lanes and the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the northbound Golden State Freeway were closed about 11:30 p.m. The No. 1 lane of the truck route and all lanes of the Golden State Freeway reopened about 12:25 a.m., but all other truck route lanes will remain closed until 7 a.m., the CHP said.
No injuries were immediately reported.
