Firefighters needed just 15 minutes Saturday morning to extinguish a fire in an apartment building in the Sawtelle area.
Crews responded to the 1500 block of Brockton Avenue, near Santa Monica Boulevard, at 3:42 a.m. and found smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story apartment complex, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“The fire was contained to contents in one unit and was prevented from spreading into the structure,” Stewart said.
A total of 31 firefighters battled the flames and a knock down was declared at 3:57 a.m, she said.
A woman was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
