Fire in an auto parts yard in Wilmington Saturday morning burned for 40 minutes before being extinguished by firefighters.
Crews responded to the 1900 block of East I Street at 4:36 a.m. and discovered fire burning and threatening a building, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters had a difficult time extinguishing the flames due to the large amount of stacked vehicles, she said.
“Firefighters prevented the blaze from damaging the structure or extending to the adjacent auto yards,” Stewart said.
A knock down was called at 5:16 a.m., Stewart said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
