An unoccupied Panga boat was found Friday near Palos Verdes Estates, and about 10 people reportedly were detained in the area.
U.S. Coast Guard personnel assisted in towing the vessel, according to the Coast Guard, which said the investigation was being conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
A CBP spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
The vessel was found at about 8 a.m. near Paseo del Mar and Palos Verdes Drive West, and investigators detained about 10 people in the area, according to KTLA5. Some containers were also found, but their contents were not reported.
The Panga is a type of open, outboard-powered fishing boat.
