A California Highway Patrol officer was injured Tuesday during a rescue operation involving a person threatening to jump from a Golden State (5) Freeway overpass in Sun Valley.
Officers and firefighters responded at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday to the southbound freeway, where a person was threatening to jump from the Tuxford Street overpass, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Traffic lanes were closed in both directions of the freeway at Tuxford Street while authorities worked to safely rescue the person.
As of 3:07 p.m., the person was taken into custody by CHP officers and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton said a CHP officer was also taken to a hospital for unspecified injuries.
No additional information was provided.
