A 22-year-old San Diego pimp pleaded guilty Wednesday to human trafficking charges involving an underage girl and was immediately sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Dominique Legrand Lewis entered his plea to one count each of pimping, human trafficking of an underage victim and pimping a minor older than 16 and two pandering counts were dismissed in exchange.
Lewis, who was a parolee when he was charged with human trafficking last May, would have faced more than 26 years in prison had he gone to trial and been found guilty because of a prior conviction for residential burglary in 2012, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Lewis pimped a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman, who he drove from San Diego to Santa Ana to work as prostitutes last spring, according to prosecutors.
An undercover officer working as a john helped the 17-year-old get off the streets and into a shelter, where Lewis was arrested the next day as he tried to get her out of the facility. Shelter operators called police.
