A domestic barricade situation ended in a double homicide at a Trabuco Canyon home, May 27, 2015.

Authorities Thursday identified a 41-year-old man and his 3 1/2-year-old son, who were found dead inside their home in Trabuco Canyon in what investigators said was a murder-suicide.

Luis Arizmendi and his son, Sebastian, were found dead in the residence at 15 Swallows Lane after SWAT deputies entered the location about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The man had barricaded himself with his son in the home shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday “following a domestic incident with his wife,” Hallock said. The barricade began with a 911 hang-up call, he said.

When deputies arrived, they were met by a woman who was with her 18- month-old son, Hallock said.

“(She) indicated she had been involved in a domestic altercation with Luis inside the residence,” Hallock said.

“The victim indicated she was married to Luis, and that he and their son Sebastian were still inside the house,” Hallock said. “During the preliminary investigation, Luis refused to exit, and was unresponsive to phone calls or attempts by deputies to contact him.

“Luis remained barricaded inside the residence until approximately 7:20 p.m. when SWAT deputies made entry and discovered Luis and Sebastian deceased from apparent gunshot wounds to the head,” Hallock said.

A handgun believed used by the man was found at the scene, Hallock said.

“Based on the information obtained and evidence collected at the scene, the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide,” Hallock said.
