Forget getting that perfect goofy selfie at Disneyland.
Starting Tuesday, Disney will begin banning selfie sticks at its theme parks, including Disneyland.
Disney staffers were being briefed about the policy, which begins Wednesday in the company’s theme parks in Paris and Hong Kong.
Disney issued the following statement regarding the new policy:
“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and, unfortunately, selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast.”
A ban on the sticks, which allow someone using a smart phone to take a picture of themselves at a distance greater than arm’s length, has been put into effect at Coachella, Lollapalooza, the Smithsonian museums, the Kentucky Derby and Wimbledon.
