A 19- to 20-year-old man lost control of his car early this morning, went off a road, down an embankment and crashed through a brick retaining wall and into a tree near a home in Anaheim Hills, a police sergeant said.

It happened at 1 a.m. in the 4900 block of Gerda Drive, said Anaheim police Sgt. B. Leininger.

The man was driving on Santa Ana Canyon Road when he lost control of his vehicle, Leininger said. After crashing into the tree, the man walked home before calling police.

“He was not arrested because he wasn’t drunk,” the sergeant said. The crash remained under investigation.
