Around 3,000 moviegoers were evacuated from a theater complex in Orange as firefighters dealt with a small, non-injury fire.

The fire was caused by a load of burned popcorn that self-ignited in a sink, sending smoke throughout the AMC movie theater complex at the Outlets at Orange, said Battalion Chief Jack Thomas of the Orange Fire Department.

The fire was reported around 9:10 p.m. Friday and patrons were allowed to return to the complex an hour later, Thomas said.

Mechanical fans were used to disperse the smoke at the complex at 20 City Block West, Thomas said.

Twenty-five firefighters were on-scene and no injuries were reported, Thomas said.
