A 42-year-old man, who has a conviction for domestic battery, was charged Monday with beating and sexually assaulting a woman he was dating in Costa Mesa, according to court records.

Monday’s arraignment for Pablo Javier Gomez was rescheduled for Nov. 20. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to jail records.

Gomez was charged with domestic battery causing injury with a prior conviction for violence, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, domestic battery causing injury with a prior conviction for violence, assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment effected by violence, menace, fraud or deceit, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by a foreign object and force, criminal threats and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, all felonies, according to court records.

The date of the alleged incident was Oct. 27 in Costa Mesa.

Prosecutors and Costa Mesa police did not immediately respond to requests for further information.

Gomez pleaded guilty on April 2, 2014, to battery against a cohabitant and corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, both misdemeanors. Two misdemeanor counts of battery were dismissed.

Gomez was sentenced to 60 days in jail, three years of informal probation, eight hours of community service and ordered to participate in a domestic violence treatment program.
