
A 28-year-old Anaheim man walking on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Anaheim who was struck and killed by a car going 60 miles per hour in the right lane Sunday was identified by the Orange County coroner.
Orlando Vasquez Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with police.
The crash took place just after 2:10 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway, at the Lincoln Avenue offramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Vasquez Hernandez was walking in an unknown direction in the number five lane of the northbound freeway, when he was struck by a silver 2005 Toyota Corolla that was going approximately 60 miles per hour.
The impact of the crash left Vasquez Hernandez laying on the right shoulder of the freeway. The driver of the Corolla, also a resident of Anaheim, stopped his car at the right shoulder of the freeway and awaited CHP officers.
