Firefighters battled a brush fire in Sherman Oaks Sunday that had charred about six acres of grass, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department

The blaze started near 15350 Burbank Blvd. in the Sepulveda Basin just before 1 p.m., fire department spokesman Nicholas Prange said.

The department sent about 100 firefighters to the scene, who were working on setting up containment lines, Prange said. He added that major streets were serving as fire breaks helping to contain the fire.

No structures have been burned and there were no reports of any injuries.

The California Highway Patrol declared a Sigalert and temporarily shut down lanes on the southbound 405 Freeway near Burbank Boulevard. The closures were lifted at around 4:45 p.m.
