The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County inched down one-tenth of a cent Sunday to $4.519, its lowest amount since Jan. 31.

The average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago, 12.6 cents less than one month ago and 22.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.974 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price declined two-tenths of a cent to $4.463, also its lowest amount since Jan. 31. The Orange County average price is 3.6 cents less than one week ago, 9.5 cents less than one month ago and 19.2 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.995 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $3.153. It is eight-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 2.1 cents more than one month ago, but 37.4 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.863 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“It’s been four years since the national average has been this low during the summer,” according to the AAA. “This season’s lower pump prices are due to an abundance of supply in the oil market.”
