The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the fourth consecutive day Sunday, increasing 1.6 cents to $6.035.
Prior to the current streak of increases, the average price had dropped for 14 consecutive days.
It is 10.6 cents more than one week ago, 7.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.242 more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 45.9 cents less than the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose for the fifth consecutive day, increasing 1.5 cents to $5.986. The Orange County average price is 13.3 cents more than one week ago, 8.3 cents more than one month ago and $1.242 more than one year ago. It is 47.3 cents less than the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
“As long as world oil supplies are constricted, California pump prices will continue to be volatile,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement Thursday. “Although today’s average prices are close to $6 a gallon locally, it’s important to know that many stations charge prices that are 50 or 60 cents lower per gallon than the average price.”
The national average price rose 1.3 cents to $4.099, its fourth consecutive increase. It is 5.1 cents more than one week ago, 11.8 cents more than one month ago and 94.6 cents more than one year ago. The average national price is 91.7 cents less than the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
