The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 1.1 cents Sunday to $6.177, its highest amount since Oct. 4, 2023.
The average price has risen 11 consecutive days, increasing 25.7 cents, including 2.5 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The streak of increases follows a 14-day streak of decreases totaling 12.8 cents.
The average price is 14.2 cents more than one week ago, 17.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.427 more than one year ago. It has risen $1.483 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran Feb. 28, moving within 31.7 cents of the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose 1 cent to $6.153, its highest amount since Oct. 3, 2023. It has increased 12 consecutive days, rising 30.6 cents, including 2.7 cents Saturday. The Orange County average price is 16.7 cents more than one week ago, 22.4 cents more than one month ago and $1.458 more than one year ago. It has risen $1.517 since the attack on Iran, moving within 30.6 cents of the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
“California’s gasoline supply is significantly affected by the Strait of Hormuz closure,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.
“According to the California Energy Commission, in 2025 the state relied upon Middle East countries for 29% of the oil it used in the state’s refineries to produce gasoline. Additionally, the gasoline that California imports from refineries in other countries is also heavily reliant on oil from the Middle East.”
The national average price rose 1.3 cents to $4.446, its highest amount since July 20, 2022. It has risen 11 consecutive days, increasing 42.6 cents, including 4.1 cents Saturday. The national average price is 34.7 cents more than one week ago, 35.5 cents more than one month ago and $1.275 more than one year ago. It has risen $1.464 since the attack on Iran, moving within 57 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
