Residents living in five houses were forced to evacuate Wednesday morning due to a gas leak in Winchester.
The leak was reported at 8:06 a.m. in the area of Washington Street and Shrimp Lane, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A one-mile stretch of Washington Street was closed between Abelia and Benton streets.
Five households living near the leak were ordered to evacuate, while others were told to shelter in place, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
A timeline for repairs was not provided.
