Political strategist Donna Brazile will open the sixth season of the speaker series “Palm Springs Speaks” Tuesday.
Brazile, an ABC news contributor and former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, became the first Black woman to oversee a major party’s presidential campaign when she managed Al Gore’s presidential run in 2000.
She will address the audience at Palm Springs High School’s Richards Center for the Arts at 7 p.m., according to organizers. The event is presented by the Friends of the Palm Springs Library.
“We are thrilled to be hosting Ms. Brazile in October right before the election,” Jeannie Kays, director of Library Services, said in a statement. “She is such a relevant and in-demand guest, which only continues to demonstrate our commitment to bringing diverse, thought-provoking and timely speakers to the Coachella Valley.”
Brazile will be joined by state Sen. Toni Atkins, the first woman and openly LGBTQ+ person to serve as the California Senate’s president pro tempore, a role she held for six years.
Atkins is set to introduce Brazile’s presentation and moderate a Q&A session afterward.
