The average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Saturday to its lowest amount since Jan. 27, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.377.

The average price has dropped 11 of the past 12 days, decreasing 6.5 cents, including a half-cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Sunday and resumed dropping Monday.

The average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago, 2.2 cents lower than one month ago and 78.6 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.996 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the third consecutive day, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.110. It has dropped 2.5 cents over the past three days, including four-tenths of a cent Friday. The decreases follow back-to-back increases totaling a half-cent.

The national average price is 2.6 cents less than one week ago, 8.6 cents lower than one month ago and 33.8 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.906 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“After the brief interruption caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, gas prices have resumed their gradual season decline,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “We are only about seven cents away from the national average’s 2024 low, and it will likely keep rolling and fall below $3 soon.”
