Authorities Thursday continued their investigation into a two-motorcycle collision that killed a 40-year-old man and injured another person on northbound Interstate 215 in Perris.
Daniel Bernston of Perris was struck shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday south of the Harley Knox Boulevard off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2006 Suzuki GSXR traveling at unspecified rate of speeds collided for an unknown reason, causing both riders to lose control of the bikes. Both were ejected from their motorcycles. The rider of the Harley-Davidson came to a rest on the left shoulder of the I-15 Freeway to the Harley Knox Boulevard off-ramp, where he was able to stand up before a 2017 Toyota Camry struck him. The rider, identified as Bernston, was taken to Riverside University Health System Medical Center with major injuries, and was later pronounced dead.
The Suzuki rider, whose identity was not revealed, suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, the CHP stated.
