After six seasons with the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Wednesday they will move their Triple-A affiliation to the Oklahoma City RedHawks in 2015.
“We enjoyed a great relationship with the Albuquerque organization and its fans, but the opportunity of franchise ownership was one we couldn’t pass up,” said Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten in a Major League Baseball released statement.
This shift comes as a result of a purchase agreement with RedHawks owner Mandalay Baseball Properties. Ownership of the Redhawks will now be under a partnership between Mandalay Entertainment Chairman and CEO Peter Guber and current principals of Mandalay Baseball Properties, and the Dodgers’ ownership group.
“I am thrilled to be partnering with the Dodgers in the Oklahoma City franchise and am looking forward to an exciting future for the enterprise,” Guber stated in the release.
The agreement is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approvals of the Pacific Coast League and Minor League Baseball and review by the Major League Baseball Office of the Commissioner.
