Staples CenterThe Los Angeles Lakers will conduct its annual Wish Night Friday night, including having a 17-year-old with Duchenne muscular dystrophy meet his sports hero, Laker guard D’Angelo Russell, following the game against the Indiana Pacers at Staples Center.

Each dunk by a Lakers player will result in a $1,000 donation from the Lakers Youth Foundation, the team’s official charity, to Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles, the Los Angeles chapter of the national organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles will have a booth on Staples Center’s Main Concourse to introduce Laker fans to the chapter and its mission, including various ways to provide support, volunteer, refer a child or participate in the chapter’s many activities.

Highlights of some of the more than 300 wishes granted by the Lakers to children from throughout the world will be shown on the arena’s video screen during breaks in play, according to Alison Tolladay, the team’s community relations manager.

The Lakers donated 100 tickets to volunteers who help make the wishes happen.
