Long Beach Transit will begin offering direct bus service Friday from downtown Long Beach to World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

The special service, provided through Metro’s World Cup Enhanced Service Program, will operate for all eight World Cup matches scheduled at the stadium between Friday and July 10.

Buses will depart from First Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Elm Avenue in downtown Long Beach and will run every eight to 10 minutes beginning about four hours before kickoff and continuing until 90 minutes after each match ends.

According to Long Beach Transit, the trip to SoFi Stadium will take approximately one hour each way.

Reserved parking is available at City Place Lot C, 51 E. Third St., with reservations beginning at $12. Bus fares are $1.75 each way and can be paid using a TAP card, debit card, credit card or mobile wallet, officials said.

“Long Beach Transit is proud to partner with our regional transit agencies to help move fans efficiently during the World Cup,” Long Beach Transit President and CEO Kenneth McDonald said in a statement. “As we welcome the world to our region, we are proud to deliver dependable mobility that brings fans, families, and cultures together.”

Long Beach Transit officials said the service is intended to provide local and international visitors with an alternative to driving while helping connect fans with one of the region’s largest sporting events.

The agency also noted that passengers attending World Cup-related celebrations in downtown Long Beach can connect to its Transit Gallery on First Street from routes throughout the city.
