A hiker suffered a lower body injury Friday on a trail in east Indio, requiring firefighters to conduct a rescue operation.
The “man down” call was received about 11:15 a.m. on the Badlands Trail in the area of Avenue 42 and Golf Center Parkway, near the Golf Club at Terra Lago, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Officials said firefighters used a utility terrain vehicle to shuttle the injured man down to an awaiting ambulance.
The man, whose name was not provided, was transported to an area hospital suffering from moderate injuries to his lower extremities.
