If you like hot beach weather, you’ll love this weekend.

Beach temperatures will soar into the mid-80s, downtown Los Angeles and other inland areas will be in the 90s and even some triple digits could be expected in the valleys.

And then as we start the workweek, rain may be returning to the Southland.

A warming trend will continue through Sunday as high pressure builds across the region, then increasing moisture will move into the area ahead of a storm system. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday through early Wednesday.

The National Weather Service forecast for Saturday calls for highs from around 80 at the beaches to the lower to mid 90s inland. It will be clear Saturday night with lows in the mid 60s to around 70.

Sunday will be partly cloudy and warmer, with highs from the lower 80s at the beaches to the lower to mid 90s inland.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District predicted air quality that will be in the range of good to unhealthful for sensitive groups in the South Coast Air Basin on Saturday.
