Firefighters responded Saturday morning to reports of a woman in distress in the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village, but no rescue was required.
Crews were called at 2:30 a.m. to a stretch of the river near the Hyperion Avenue bridge and located the woman, who was out of the water, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The woman resisted any help from firefighters, Stewart said.
Crews checked on all other encampments in the river bottom and ensured people moved to higher ground, she said.
The water does not appear to be rising and the rain has stopped, Stewart said.
