A mild, slow-moving winter storm doused the San Diego area with intermittent downpours Tuesday, dropping anywhere from two-fifths of an inch to 1 3/4 inches of rainfall across the county.

The round of cloudbursts, which began Monday evening, were expected to continue through late Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, the showers had dropped 1.76 inches of moisture on Mount Laguna; 1.33 in Julian; 1.16 in Fallbrook; 0.97 in Encinitas and San Marcos; 0.78 in Poway; and 0.76 in Carlsbad.

Other precipitation totals included 0.7 of an inch in Rancho San Diego; 0.69 in San Pasqual Valley; 0.68 in Rancho Bernardo; 0.62 in Alpine; 0.6 in Ocotillo Wells; 0.59 in Santee; 0.53 in the Miramar area; 0.5 in El Cajon; 0.49 at Lindbergh Field and in Lemon Grove; 0.48 in Del Mar; 0.46 in La Mesa; 0.39 at Brown Field Municipal Airport; 0.38 in Serra Mesa; 0.35 in National City; and 0.28 in Chula Vista.

A follow-up period of wet weather is expected Thursday into early Friday, with some light rains possible over the weekend. Thereafter, a low-pressure system from the north will bring greater chances for more significant precipitation early next week, meteorologists advised.
