A cooling trend will take hold across Southern California this weekend, with a weak storm expected to bring light rain and gusty winds to the region Saturday.
Temperatures Friday were expected to remain near seasonal norms, with partly cloudy skies and a developing sea breeze bringing slight cooling along the coast and in valley areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Conditions will change Saturday as a weak system moves through the region, bringing mostly cloudy skies.
“It does not have enough moisture and/or dynamics to make it much of a threat. Still, most areas will likely see some periods of light rain through the day,” the weather agency said.
Rainfall totals are expected to be minimal, generally a tenth of an inch or less, though some mountain areas could receive up to a quarter inch, forecasters said.
Gusty southwest to west winds are also expected, particularly in the Antelope Valley, where gusts could reach about 45 mph.
Daytime temperatures will drop noticeably, with highs falling into the 60s across coastal and valley areas.
There is a slight chance of lingering showers Sunday morning, but skies are expected to clear later in the day, with dry conditions returning for most areas, forecasters said.
Below-normal temperatures are expected to continue into early next week, with only gradual warming through Monday and Tuesday.
Forecasters said another weak system could bring a slight chance of rain late Tuesday or Wednesday, though rainfall amounts are expected to remain light.
