One person died in a single vehicle collision which wedged the car between on off-ramp and an overpass in Boyle Heights Thursday.
A white Kia sedan drove off the freeway and landed in an embankment around 2:15 a.m. Thursday on the transition road from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol closed the transition road and issued a SigAlert.
Calrans crews began breaking down the closure about 6:45 a.m., according to the CHP.
Video from the scene showed the badly mangled car and firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department working to clear the vehicle from the embankment.
Details on the cause of the crash and the identity of the victim were not immediately available.
