Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a $5,000 reward Friday for information leading to the conviction of three men who stole firearms, jewelry and even a young customer’s iPod during the armed robbery of an Azusa pawn shop.
Surveillance footage shows one man entering Azusa Pawn in the 1000 block of West Gladstone Street about 1:50 p.m. May 24 and spending 15-20 minutes perusing jewelry and firearms that were for sale before exiting the premises, according to Azusa police and ATF investigators.
Then about 2:35 p.m., three men entered the shop and ordered employees to lie face down on the floor before ransacking the place, authorities said.
One employee was ordered at gunpoint to open the store’s safe and another worker was kicked in the face and suffered a broken nose.
During the robbery, a father and his young son entered the business and were ordered to the ground before the suspects stole the iPod the boy was carrying, authorities said.
“The suspects got away with a large amount of jewelry and eight firearms,” according to police.
They were last seen getting into a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Saturn, and fleeing east on Gladstone Street.
Investigators think the man who entered the store at 1:50 p.m. is possibly associated with the three robbers, all in their early 20s.
One is about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, about 170 pounds and was wearing sweat pants and a red hoodie with “Minnesota” on the front. Another is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 190 pounds with facial hair and was wearing a two-tone gray zip-up sweatshirt with a red hood.
The third robber is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 160 pounds and was wearing a dark hoodie and sweat pants.
ATF investigators are involved in the case because the pawn shop is a federal firearms licensee.
Anyone with information about the suspects was urged to call police detectives at (626) 812-3200 or the ATF tip line at (800) ATF-GUNS (283-4867).
