A business owner’s son was stabbed when he tried to thwart a would-be robber Friday in Orange, police said.

Around 2:30 p.m., a male adult suspect entered the business in the 4300 block of east Chapman and tried to steal property, Orange Police Sgt. Phil McMullin said.

When confronted by the business owner and his son, the suspect stabbed the son and fled the scene on a bicycle, McMullin said.

The son has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was later found and arrested by responding officers.

A second suspect, who was the lookout during the attempted robbery, also fled the scene on a bicycle and remains at large, McMullin said.
