Two motorists reported shattered windows while driving on the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Seal Beach area Tuesday afternoon, but California Highway Patrol officers were unable to determine the cause.
Police were called just after 4 p.m. by motorists who believed their vehicles may have been fired on as they were traveling south on the 405, just north of Seal Beach, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
The driver of a gray Chevrolet Tahoe said a window was suddenly shattered, but didn’t know why, the dispatcher said. The driver of a GMC Acadia reported the same.
It was unclear if the damage was done by a rock or a gunshot or some other projectile.
