California Highway Patrol officers are investigating Thursday a fiery, solo-vehicle crash that resulted in one person being ejected and killed when the vehicle rolled over near the San Bernardino (10) Freeway.
The crash was reported at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday and officers from the El Monte Police Department and CHP responded to the eastbound freeway and Santa Anita Avenue where they learned the victim was driving near the bus station on Santa Anita when the vehicle flew off the roadway into the Rio Hondo Watershed and the driver was ejected, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel found the driver in the wash, where they were pronounced dead. Information on the person’s identity was not immediately available.
It was not immediately known if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
