The Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association announced a fundraiser Thursday to assist an officer whose daughter has been diagnosed with leukemia.

Officer Benjamin Castillo of the Airport Police received news about his 5-year-old daughter’s diagnosis in September, according to the LAAPOA.

Castillo’s daughter, Camila, has been described as a charismatic little girl who is bravely battling her illness while maintaining a good spirit and a smile on her face.

“Officer Castillo and his family have shown amazing resilience and strength despite facing unimaginable challenges,” LAAPOA President Marshall McClain said in a statement. “Now, it’s our turn to rally together and show them the same support and care they’ve always shown to others.”

Castillo and his family wanted to gift Camila with a doll, puzzle, or toy pony this past Christmas, but they faced challenges as they continued supporting the 5-year-old’s medical treatment.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference in helping this brave little girl continue her fight. Let’s come together as a family to lift up Camila and her parents during this difficult time,” McClain said.
