The fourth annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival will be held Sunday at West Hollywood Park, offering free book readings, performances, storytelling and other activities aimed at promoting children’s literacy.
The festival, presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation and the city of West Hollywood, is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Organizers said the event will feature about 100 exhibitors, children’s book authors and illustrators, along with arts and crafts, games, food trucks, giveaways and author meet-and-greets.
Storytime readings are scheduled throughout the day at several locations in the park, including the Doheny Room, Community Room and an outdoor picnic area near the playground.
The performance schedule includes an appearance by children’s entertainers Blippi and Meekah at 10:15 a.m., followed by a youth tap-dance performance by Sole Talk at 11 a.m. and a concert by The BeatBuds at 11:30 a.m.
Other scheduled activities include a presentation featuring “The Fly Who Flew” series, a performance by Rebelot Theatre, a drawing demonstration and a Korean picture-book storytime with Zo-O.
An “Epic Foam Party” is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The festival is intended to encourage early childhood literacy, bilingualism and multiculturalism and introduce children and families to authors, illustrators and books, according to organizers.
The American Born Chinese Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports children’s bilingual literacy.
Admission to the festival is free.
