For the second consecutive week, “Lucifer” topped the list of the most-watched streamed programs, with viewership up 43.1% from the previous week, according to figures released Thursday by Nielsen.
Viewers spent 1.838 billion minutes between May 31-June 6 watching the series’ 83 episodes on Netflix. Viewers watched for 1.284 billion minutes the previous week, which included the first three days of release of the final eight episodes of its fifth season.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” was among five programs in the Top 10 not in the previous week’s, finishing second with 1.078 billion minutes the first three days it was available to all Disney+ subscribers. The animated fantasy action-adventure film began being available to Disney+ subscribers for an additional $29.99 on March 5.
“Sweet Tooth” was third for the week, with viewers watching 794 million minutes of the Netflix fantasy drama in its first three days of release.
Another newcomer to the Top 10 was “Dirty John,” fourth for the week with 761 million minutes watched of the true crime anthology series’ 16 episodes on Netflix, the first eight which originally appeared on Bravo and the second eight on USA Network.
“The Handmaid’s Tale” returned to the Top 10 after a one-week absence at No. 8, with viewers watching 473 million minutes of the 44 episodes of the Hulu dystopian drama, including the eighth episode of its of its fourth season, which was released June 2.
“Heartland” returned to the Top 10 after four-week absence, finishing 10th for the week with 423 million minutes watched of the 177 episodes of the Canadian family drama that streams on Netflix.
Dropping out of the Top 10 were “Army of the Dead,” the zombie heist movie that was second the previous week and first the week before that; the drama series “StartUp”; “CoComelon,” a series of 3D animation videos of both traditional nursery rhymes and original children’s songs; the animated science fiction action-adventure series “Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous”; and the 2015 DreamWorks Animation science fiction comedy film “Home.”
The top 10 consisted of five series that originally aired on U.S. or Canadian broadcast and cable networks, four original streaming series and one movie.
The Top 10 programs were “Lucifer”; “Raya and the Last Dragon”; “Sweet Tooth”; “Dirty John”; “Criminal Minds”; “Grey’s Anatomy”; “NCIS”; “The Kominsky Method”; “The Handmaid’s Tale”; and “Heartland.”
The figures only reflect television set-related viewing, including such television-connected devices as Roku and Apple TV. Mobile-only viewing is not included in Nielsen’s streaming measurement systems.
