Firefighters prevented a brushfire inside a Calabasas housing tract from spreading to homes Sunday evening.

The fire was reported about 10 p.m. in the 24600 block of Cordillera Drive, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

Residents were evacuated while firefighters worked, Pittman said.

The flames were stopped at one acre of vegetation about 10:45 p.m. and no homes were damaged, he said. No injuries were reported.
