A man was fighting for his life in an area hospital Wednesday while Anaheim Police investigated the death of another man, whose bloodied body was found in the same house where the other person was rescued.

Police received a call just after 6 p.m. Tuesday of an assault and battery in the 1400 block of West Park Avenue, Anaheim police Lt. Eric Trapp said. Arriving officers knocked on the door, but there was no answer.

The television was on in the house so the officers went around the back and saw a man covered in blood in a bedroom, Trapp said. When officers got into the house, they found another man in the kitchen also covered in blood, he said.

The man found in the kitchen was pronounced dead at the scene, Trapp said. His name was withheld pending family notification.

The other man, who’s in his late 20s, was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries, Trapp said. Police withheld his name.

The men’s relationship — if any — was unclear, as was what happened to them, Trapp said.

“It’s not a problematic neighborhood for us, which also makes it unusual for us,” he said.
