The streets of Anaheim were a lot safer Sunday after police collected 676 firearms during a Gun Buy Back event at La Palma Park, authorities said.

“I am proud to see our community work with us in reducing the amount of guns on the streets or potentially those weapons which can be taken during a residential burglary,” Anaheim police Chief Raul Quezada said. “When the community and police work together, great things are accomplished.”

People who turned in firearms with no questions asked received a $100 gift card per firearm for Kohl’s, Target or Walmart.

The Saturday event was held on the north side of the park at 1151 N. La Palma Park Way, said Anaheim police Sgt. Luis Correa.
