The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a swimmer who entered the water and didn’t return at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach, “pending future developments.”

The announcement came shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Three swimmers were reported missing by a good Samaritan at 5:14 p.m. Saturday at Bolsa Chica State Beach, according to firefighters. Two swimmers were rescued and taken to hospitals.

The still-missing swimmer was identified as Shaun Linn, 18, according to U. S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Sandra Kneen. No hometown was available.

Linn failed to resurface about 50 to 100 yards from the beach, according to the Coast Guard, which sent a helicopter and a 45-foot rescue boat to the search, Kneen said. He was last seen wearing red and white trunks.

The Coast Guard sent a helicopter, a 45-foot response boat and an 87- foot patrol boat to search for Linn. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department also dispatched a helicopter and Harbor Patrol boat for the search and state lifeguards were involved.
