Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was killed in a shooting last week in Compton that left two other men wounded.
The shooting was reported about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of West Compton Boulevard, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Gregory McDonald, 45, of Inglewood died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported. No description was released of the suspect or suspects.
A group of people were gathered in a parking lot having a vigil for a friend who had recently died when a man, believed to be in his 40s, walked up to the gatherers and confronted them, Schrader said.
An argument ensued and the man pulled a gun out and started shooting at the group before fleeing on foot westbound on Compton Boulevard, Schrader said.
Two men and a woman were wounded by the gunfire and taken to hospitals where McDonald was pronounced dead, Schrader said.
The surviving victims were listed in fair condition, Schrader said.
Authorities were investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
